Conlon's Cavalcade: Seeing Red

Hey Readers,

I know a lot of guys at Comic Masters love the Green Lantern titles. Some of us were talking about our favorite titles of 2010, and the GL books ranked highly among all of us. Geoff Johns and the crew have created a cosmic tapestry that is enthralling to both old and new fans. My daughter brought in all the promotional rings DC created last year (one for each of their color Lantern Corps) to her school for show and tell. The kids had a ball trying them on, and listening to her fill in the multi-layered history behind each of the plastic baubles.

But, recently DC announced the upcoming release of yet another ongoing Green Lantern associated title. This would give us four! Joining Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, and Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors will be Red Lanterns. Is this the red cherry on top of a yummy sundae, or the last bit of food you try to cram down your gullet- hoping you don't get indigestion? I personally think, DC has a bit of Orange Lantern avarice, and is pushing it. If we have to have another title, what about a Tales of the Corps book? This series could rotate between spotlights on all the various Corps (you could have a Larfleeze done in one, followed by an Indigo Tribe arc, etc.). I'm a big proponent of nobody, and I mean nobody (Superman, Batman, Spidey, X-Men, and oh yeah Deadpool) having more than two titles. I already think the Green Lantern Corps and Emerald Warrior books could be consolidated.

But, what do you readers think? I'm hoping (like Saint Walker) that we'll get a few Comic Masters customers here to reply (Marty,Nick, etc.). Am I being cynical, or will all be well?

John!

  1. I'm with John--an anthology style book would be a more interesting book for me to spend my money on. It's getting too expensive to keep buying the same old thing. DC is pushing it with another Green Lantern title. They just want the money.
